Business and Professional Women is the world's oldest and largest organization of working women.

Founded in 1919, the National Federation of BPW is a non-profit, non-partisan, non-sectarian, self-governing and member supporting organization.

Membership...

More than 100,000 individuals are members of the National Federation in over 2,000 local organizations.

Membership in BPW is open to all individuals who subscribe to the Federation objectives.

All BPW members strongly support

  • The ratification of an Equal Rights Amendment
  • The right to equal pay for equal work

BPW Washington...

was chartered April 1965. It is a non-profit, non-sectarian organization, and is open to all persons.

Foundation...

The BPW Foundation carries out an integrated program of research and information; and conducts and supports research of issues of concern to working women.

National Business Women's Week in October...

For over half a century, BPW has been observing National Business Women's Week with special activities to focus attention on the accomplishments of working women.

Development Programs...

Through BPW, you may participate in several programs designed to educate and inform. Individual Development and workshops available from National are also offered.

Objectives...

  • To elevate the standards for women in business and in the professions
  • To promote the interests of business and professional women
  • To bring about a spirit of cooperation among business and professional women of the United States
  • To extend opportunities to business and professional women through education along the lines of industrial, scientific, and vocational activities.

Goals...

  • Support women returning to the work force
  • Eliminate occupational prejudices against female workers
  • Elevate the dignity of women in careers and the home
  • Raise awareness of the status of women
  • Offer women the opportunity for increased personal development
  • Decrease the wage gap and break the glass ceiling

Washington Iowa Business and Professional Women meet the fourth Tuesday evening of the month at 6:00 P.M.

"The INFORMER" is a monthly newsletter prepared by the President to give members information about the last meeting, the time, place, and other useful information concerning the next meeting.
